David Beckham becomes the face of Sky Sports in Ireland
Football icon David Beckham is starring in a new ad campaign for Sky Sports to launch the broadcaster’s sporting schedule for the season ahead
The ad is part of a new Sky marketing campaign in Ireland designed to highlight the different ways in which customers can enjoy the Sky Sports service.
The classy TV advert uses CGI to show several versions of David Beckham overlapping on screen, as he enjoys watching Sky Sports in a variety of ways. The ad premieres today and will be aired across a number of Sky channels and all Irish terrestrial channels.
Convenience and flexibility
Beckham is seen watching Sky Sports on his laptop, tablet and smartphone during the one-minute advert, with a number of locations used to demonstrate the convenience and flexibility of the Sky Sports service.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is seen watching Sky Sports at his posh London home, over lunch at a pie and mash shop, and backstage at a TV studio. “David Beckham is one of the most celebrated and iconic players of all time and having him star in this campaign will greatly help us launch the biggest ever season of Premier League football on Sky Sports in Ireland,” said Mark Anderson, Sky Ireland’s Director for Sales and Marketing. “With Sky Sports our customers in Ireland are able to enjoy an unrivalled range of sport on their own terms – whether at home in stunning high-definition or on the move through Sky Go – as well as more live Premier League matches than ever before. So, there’s never been a better time to join Sky.”
The ad is just one part of a wider campaign by the broadcaster to highlight the viewing options available to Sky Sports subscribers in Ireland. The multi-million pound campaign will run across print, TV, outdoor advertising space, online and across social media channels.
David Beckham joined Sky as an ambassador earlier this year as the broadcaster announced its biggest ever season of Premier League football. Sky Sports viewers in Ireland can look forward to unrivaled coverage of the season ahead, with a bumper 116 live Premiership games across the season, kicking off in August.
Alongside Premier League action, there is also coverage of the Champions League, Football League, La Liga and the SPL.
Some 43 Premier League games will be broadcast before 1 December and Sky Sports has promised that all top flight teams will make an appearance by 6 October. Sky Sports fans also have some new faces to enjoy when the new season kicks off, with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher joining the likes of Gary Neville and Jamie Redknapp in the studio for pre and post-match analysis, on Monday Night Football and Saturday Night Football – a new show for Sky Sports’ evening fixture on Saturdays.
