eir have today announced further details in their deployment of high speed broadband across rural ireland, offering users speeds of up to 1000 Mb/s.

Over the next 12 months, 100,000 homes and businesses across all 26 counties will gain access to Ireland’s fastest broadband speeds. This comes as part of eir’s commitment to extend the reach of high speed broadband to a further 300,000 homes and businesses, with the aim of reaching 1.9 million premises by the end of 2020.

eir’s Managing Director Carolan Lennon expressed her excitement at the upcoming developments:

“We already provide the fastest broadband speeds in the country and we are now extending those speeds beyond the town. Last June, we committed to extend the reach of our commercial rollout as far as possible. Our announcement today is testament to our on-going support of the economic recovery and rejuvenation of rural Ireland using best in class technology.”

Work is set to be completed by March 2017.
