Free WiFi now available in Temple Street Hospital, thanks to eir Business

eir successfully worked around the complex architecture of the hospital to install the WiFi

As a part of its IT enhancement programme, Temple Street Children’s University Hospital is now providing free, secure WiFi in all public areas of the hospital. This development comes as a result of eir Business providing state-of-the-art Advantage WiFi.

Temple Street Hospital chose eir as their provider due to their ability to implement an effective WiFi system in a challenging building - a Victorian hospital which is almost 150 years old. Ensuring that the WiFi did not affect the operation of medical equipment was also a considerable challenge during the installation, but the WiFi system has now been installed without incident.

Speaking about the long-awaited introduction of public Wi-Fi to Temple Street, Dairín Hines, Head of ICT, Temple Street said, “We are absolutely delighted to now be in a position to offer free, secure, high-speed Wi-Fi access to the thousands of families and children that pass through Temple Street every year allowing them stay connected with their lives beyond the hospital.”

Dairín Hines continued by thanking eir for their work in finding a solution in providing WiFi for a difficult building; “We are entirely grateful for the support and expertise provided by eir Business in finding a solution to make this possible in a building as old as Temple Street with its complex architecture”.

The WiFi can be accessed in the hospital’s reception areas, Outpatient Departments (OPD) and ED through personal devices and will improve the ability of patients and visitors to keep in touch with friends and family outside the hospital and around the world for free.
