UPC Ireland has broken the 12.5 million video views barrier over the Christmas period. Launched last year, the On Demand service has seen its service viewers grow steadily ever since.

Customers of the cable net service have enjoyed the catch up service over the holidays with the ever popular Christmas episodes of soaps seeing a particular boost.

Since launch, UPC Ireland claim that up to 89% on its customers with access to the On Demand service have used it.

3Player and RTE Player have seen the greatest number of views with 48%. 29% watched children’s entertainment, movies and general programming and at the lower end of the scale, 27% are viewers of television Box Sets.

UPC Ireland Head of Content was delighted with these results saying “Christmas and New Years were times when customers found the UPC On-Demand TV service invaluable for catching up with the all-important Christmas specials for their favourite soaps and shows. With over 12.5 million views to date, UPC On-Demand is firmly established among Irish viewers as they choose to watch what they want, when they want”.

Launched last May to much fanfare, the UPC Ireland service continues to grow its catalogue and customer base and will continue to do so into the future.
