Sky introduces 14 extra channels to Sky Go

Popular mobile TV service, Sky Go gains 14 additional channels including MTV, Gold, Discovery and Dave

Sky has enhanced the choice and flexibility of its digital TV offering, with the launch of 14 additional entertainment channels now accessible via Sky Go.

From today, Sky TV customers can enjoy MTV, Comedy Central, Gold, Watch, Dave, Alibi, Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, History, Good Food and Eden via the Sky Go service.

Sky Go now boasts up to 57 channels, enabling Sky TV subscribers to access premium TV content via a broadband connection at any time at no extra cost.

With up to 40 entertainment channels, 6 Sky Sports channels and 11 Sky Movies channels available on the Sky Go service, subscribers now have more choice than ever before.

“The addition of these new channels is part of our continued commitment to provide our customers with a great TV experience whenever and wherever they want it, all at no extra cost,” explained Mark Anderson, Sky Ireland’s Sales and Marketing Director.

“Customers now have even more choice and flexibility whether they want to watch TV Box Sets, live Barclays Premier League football, the latest blockbusters from Sky Movies or awarding-winning drama from a wider range of entertainment channels.”

The service has seen a large rise in popularity since its launch in the summer of 2011, and now attracts more than three million unique users every quarter.

Sky Applications are also proving a hit with Irish audiences with over 2 million downloads to date according to Sky Ireland’s own download figures.

The Sky Go App has been downloaded more than 435,000 times to date, while the Sky News App has almost 400,000 downloads.

The Sky Sports News App is equally as popular having been downloaded more than 325,000 times, while the Sky + App has seen similar download results.

Meanwhile, Sky Go Extra is also gaining in popularity with a reported 219,000 subscribers in Ireland upgrading to the new service in the last quarter alone.

Sky Go Extra includes all of the features of the Sky Go service but with the possibility of registering an extra two devices.

The service is available to all Sky customers for an additional €6.00 per month, or on a completely free a basis as part of Sky’s Multiroom subscription.
