Sky is launching fibre broadband with 1Gb speeds this summer
The product will be delivered using Fibre-to-the-Home technology to deliver this product.
Today, Sky Ireland announced the introduction of its all-new superfast fibre broadband product.
Coming this summer, Sky Fibre 1Gb will use Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks to deliver speeds of up to 1Gb - the highest available speeds in the country.
1Gb speeds are 10 times faster than standard fibre broadband, meaning it’s perfect for very high bandwidth users that want instant, multi-device access things like streaming and gaming.
These speeds are also great for busy households, as they allow users to simultaneously download, stream and share content without interruption, all under one roof.
Speaking about the upcoming launch, Sky Ireland’s Director of Products and Marketing, Ann-Marie MacKay, said: “We live in a world where there is a growing need and expectation for superfast broadband speed and so Sky is delighted to announce we will be offering the highest available speeds in the country to the widest possible footprint.”
She added: “Our reach will continue to grow year on year through our relationship with partners such as SIRO and through backing the Government’s National Broadband Plan which will make superfast broadband a reality for currently under-served communities. “
Sky expects to be offering superfast broadband - with speeds of up to 1Gb - to more than 1 million homes over the next 3-5 years, which is great news for anyone still awaiting fast broadband where they live.
