Sky is kicking off switching season with some big discounts for new and existing customers.

The details

Existing Sky TV customers can add-on Sky Fibre Unlimited broadband and Talk Freetime for an additional €35 for 12 months. This represents a saving of €20 per month, or €240 over the course of the year on Sky’s normal price.

New customers can also avail of a discounted price, with Sky’s triple-play offering, Sky Original TV Bundle + Sky Fibre Unlimited & Talk Freetime available for €55 per month for 12 months. The standard price for this bundle is €84.50 per month, so the savings over the course of the year amount to over €350.

Sky has also said that customers will get the option to opt-in to Sky Q when they choose this bundle, and will only need to pay the installation fee for the Sky Q system, but no additional monthly charge.

Sky Q offers the same benefits as the Sky Original TV package, but with the addition of features like:

  • Fluid Viewing, which allows you to watch recordings around your home, pause in one room, carry on in another;
  • Up to 150 hours with 1TB storage on the Sky Q box; and
  • Sky Q Hub, which turns Sky Q boxes into Wi-Fi hotspots.

Is this a good deal?

This offer puts Sky amongst the lowest-priced triple-play deals in the market when you take into account the annual cost. And the discount lasts for a full 12 months, so no nasty surprises midway through the year.

Most providers will offer a discount for 4-6 months, with the full price coming into effect after that, for the remainder of the contract.

What should I think about before switching?

If you decide you’re going to make a switch, consider what’s important to you for your new broadband, TV and phone package.

For most people, price is the thing that they consider most important when comparing broadband providers, with broadband speed coming in a close second. It’s also important to think about what features you might like with your TV package, and if there are any channels you can’t live without.

Sky offers over 50 TV channels, including Sky Atlantic, and has the largest catch-up service in Ireland, with content from RTÉ, TV3, and Sky channels, among others. Sky customers can also watch TV from Sky wherever they are in the UK & Ireland with a 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi connection with Sky Go.

Sky Fibre broadband offers speeds up to 100Mbps, and Sky was also voted Best Broadband Provider at this year’s Switcher Broadband Awards.

These new discounts are on offer with Sky until the 13th of October.
