Sky Sports subscribers in Ireland are to benefit from the company’s four year deal to screen live RaboDirect Pro12 matches from the 2014/15 season.

RaboDirect Pro12 is one of the three main professional European rugby union leagues in addition to the English Aviva Premiership and the Top 14 in France.

The league currently includes Europe’s top-ranked team Leinster as well as the last season’s champions Ospreys and the current leaders Ulster.

At present games are screened in Ireland by broadcasters RTE and TG4 but the deal with Sky Sports means that viewers to the subscription channel will have the option to watch up to thirty RaboDirect Pro12 matches each season in addition to the all-important semi-finals and the final of the competition.

John Feehan, Chief Executive of RaboDirect Pro12, spoke of his delight in agreeing the deal with Sky Sports which means that Sky Sports subscribers will be able to view the games which feature teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy.
