Sky unveils special pop-up channels for festive season

Sky Sports Darts and Sky Movies Christmas running throughout December

Sky has enhanced its TV offering for the festive season with the launch of two pop-up channels; Sky Movies Christmas and Sky Sports Darts.

The channels will available for Sky Sports and Sky Movies subscribers, with Sky Movies Christmas on channel 303 and Sky Sports Darts on channel 407.

“We are delighted to showcase timeless Christmas classics on a dedicated Sky Movies Christmas channel for all the family to enjoy,” explained Ann-Marie McKay, Director of Product and Customer Growth, Sky Ireland.

She added that the sports offering would provide something for all armchair sports enthusiasts with a range of live action on during the Christmas period.

Sky Movies Christmas

Dedicated to festive favourites, Sky Movies Christmas will showcase timeless classics including Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle of 34th Street.

Modern masterpieces such as Bad Santa, Elf and The Muppets Christmas Carol will also be shown as well as a number of festive premieres.

Disney’s Cinderella airs for the first time on 18 December, with Night of the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb screened on Christmas Eve and Big Hero 6 to follow on Christmas Day.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron also premieres on St Stephen’s Day, with every movie available via Sky Movies on Demand, alongside thousands of others.

Sky Movies Darts

Darts’ biggest event, the PDC World Darts Championship, will be shown from 17 December, as the best in the world of darts battle it out at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Sky Sports Darts will feature all of the action from the two week event while Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all in action twice over the Christmas period as the Barclay’s Premier League title race hots up.

There’s also action from the European Rugby Champions Cup as Leinster take on a double header against reigning champions Toulon, who are chasing an incredible fourth consecutive title.

New and existing Sky customers can currently get Sky Movies and Sky Sports together for half price at €23.25 for six months.
