Although it may seem like we’ve been hearing about Christmas for months now, the real build-up is only just beginning.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be bombarded by mince pies, tins of sweets, Christmas carols, wrapping paper and maybe even some mulled wine.

And what better way to while away a couple of Christmassy hours than by watching a festive favourite on Netflix? We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 Christmas movies on the streaming service this holiday season….

5. Jingle All the Way

A Christmas classic in many respects, this movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a desperate Dad trying to get his son the must-have Christmas toy - a Turbo Man.

Featuring a toy shop brawl, a festive parade, and Arnie wrestling with a reindeer, there’s plenty here for everyone to enjoy!

4. Arthur Christmas

A more recent release, coming out just 5 years ago, this movie tells the tale of Santa’s son Arthur and his love for Christmas.

Most of the more recent Christmas movies haven’t quite hit the right note, but this one is pretty much perfect. Sweet but still funny, and with just the right amount of Christmas cheer.

3. Die Hard

This one is the quintessential Christmas movie for a lot of people, with officer John McClane taking on a group of criminals led by Hans Gruber.

Although it lacks the festivities of some of the other entries on this list, it’s still a Christmas classic.

2. Scrooged

A 1980’s take on A Christmas Carol, this one sees Bill Murray take on the role of Frank Cross - a modern-day Ebenezer Scrooge.

It revolves around his job at a TV network, and how he’s put his career ahead of his family, friends and colleagues. Like the original, he’s visited by 3 ghosts… but these ones are a little bit more outrageous than the ones in Charles Dickens’ classic novel.

1. Home Alone

Of all the Christmas classics on Netflix, this one is probably the most well-liked by people of all generations. And it’s not hard to see why…

Macauley Culkin’s starring role as Kevin, the kid left at home alone while his family go on a Christmas holiday, is one of the Christmas greats, and behind all the slapstick, this movie just has buckets of Christmas warmth.

Have Netflix, but struggling with slow broadband?

If you struggle with your broadband speed, you might find streaming is an issue. There are lots of things you can do at home to improve your speeds, for example connecting your device directly to the router should have a huge impact.

If you need to use WiFi, there are a number of things you can do to improve your speeds, for example:

  • make sure the router is not encased in a cabinet or surrounded by things that may block the signal;
  • ensure the modem is not near devices that could interfere with it - like microwaves, baby monitors or cordless phones;
  • move the router into the room where you use the internet most; and/or
  • use a WiFi extender.

You could also see what other broadband options are available in your area - moving to a faster connection could give you great results.
