UPC adds Setanta 1 HD to their channel selection

Irish viewers to enjoy high definition sporting action with the introduction of Setanta 1 HD

Sports fans in Ireland can now enjoy Setanta 1 HD in their TV packages after UPC has moved to strengthen its overall sports offering.

It means a greater selection of premium sports will be shown in clearer detail including international and domestic soccer, top rugby action and a mix of US action.

US ice hockey and NASCAR will also be broadcast in high definition for UPC audiences across all of Ireland.

The leading figures from many of the world’s leading sports can now be watched in glorious high definition by UPC customers.

Brian Quinn, Marketing Operations Director of Setanta Sports, was glad to see the changes and insisted that sports fans would not miss any of the action.

“Setanta 1 is the home of our 33 Live Barclays Premier League games this season along with a host of other live content,” he explained.

“It’s great that UPC customers can now experience all five channels in the Setanta Plus pack in HD.”

In the UPC Horizon TV package – launched a matter of months ago – the new HD channel will replace the existing Setanta 1.

Meanwhile, other UPC customers will be able to find Setanta 1 and all of its sports content on channel 436.

Shane Loughrey-Grant, Content Delivery Manager at UPC, was glad that UPC could strengthen their TV packages with the addition of fresh new programming.

“Setanta 1 HD is an exciting addition and will help to bring premium sporting events even more vividly to our viewers,” he said.

He added that Irish customers would now be able to enjoy the best sporting action from across the globe.

Since launching its new Horizon TV service in September, high demand from customers has seen more than 30,000 people already subscribe to the service.

Horizon TV aims to bring TV to life and the new package sets a high standard for TV, broadband and phone services in Ireland.
