UPC Ireland was today revelling in their results for Q4 2013, after adding an additional 19,700 customers to its fibre-powered broadband, TV and phone service packages.

The overall subscription results for the quarter represented a 7% rise compared to the same period in 2012, placing them in a strong position for the year.

Magnus Ternsjö, CEO of UPC Ireland, was particularly pleased about the results as well as being keen to point out that they were a sign of genuine ‘momentum’ within the company.

“These are strong results which highlight the progress we have achieved in meeting our customer needs. This is underpinned by the support of a great workforce, the power of UPC’s fibre network offering the best digital services in the market and our continuing focus on operational excellence,” suggested Ternsjö.

He went on to describe specifically why he thinks 2014 is shaping up to be such a ‘promising year’ for the company.

“The high performance capacity of our fibre power network is driving double digit growth for our superfast broadband and voice services. 2014 already looks promising with Horizon TV subscribers now reaching over 50,000 and growing,” he suggested.

UPC Ireland also saw annual growth of 71,000 people in terms of the number of people who took up subscriptions to TV, broadband and phone services. Specifically in terms of broadband, there was an 11% year-on-year increase in broadband subscriptions throughout the country. In terms of home phone subscription customers, the growth was even more pronounced at 23%. These growth figures emerged alongside a year that was filled with other notable milestones.

Sports fans will have been particularly pleased with 2013, after UPC Ireland introduced the new Setanta Sports Plus pack. This package includes Setanta Sports 1, BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN, as well as additional HD options for all channels.

The digital TV provider also unveiled last year, the exciting new Horizon TV service for UPC customers across Ireland. The new Horizon packages offer customers a more comprehensive way to combine their TV, broadband and home phone services.
