Total subscriptions increase by 7% on last year and firm is named Best Broadband Provider
UPC Ireland has unveiled performance figures for the first quarter of 2014, revealing that 24,300 customers signed up for its fibre-powered broadband services.
When compared to the same quarter in 2013, total UPC subscriptions showed year-on-year growth of 7%, or 71,400 customers, meaning 1,084,000 UPC customers now use the super-fast broadband service.
Chief financial officer of UPC Ireland, Carol Grennan, revealed that the year-on-year growth figures highlight the “value and performance” that UPC provides.
“We have made a great start to the year driven by steady demand for our fibre powered services and the launch of several innovative new products,” she said.
“Our positive momentum is continuing with growth in subscriptions across digital video, high-speed Internet and business services.”
UPC Ireland has also seen their new Horizon TV service become increasingly popular, with 75,000 subscribers now enjoying the service.
The company also launched its new Horizon Phone App, Horizon Wi-free service and the Horizon App for Android.
“Our focus on maximising the quality of our customer experience is driving our success as we deliver the most innovative products in the industry and this will continue as we exploit the power of our network for consumers and businesses nationwide,” added Ms Grennan.
The inaugural uSwitch.ie Awards in the first quarter also saw UPC named as Best Broadband Provider after achieving the highest overall customer ratings score.
The firm also scooped awards for being the Fastest Home Broadband Provider thanks to its high speed broadband services and for offering the Best Technical Support.
Furthermore, UPC Ireland was also the Most Recommended Broadband Provider at the awards, while also being nominated in a number of other categories.
UPC subscribers can enjoy home entry broadband speeds of up to 120Mbps or more as standard, while businesses can benefit from speeds of up to 500Mbps.
To date, 66% of existing home customers are enjoying those speeds, while there are now 348,300 broadband customers – a year-on-year growth rate of 10%.
