UPC launches My Prime service
Horizon TV customers gain access to library of Ireland’s most popular shows and movies
UPC will provide Irish television viewers with access to even more content after agreeing deals for a new service: My Prime.
The fibre broadband, TV and phone provider has agreed deals with local content providers and major US studios to enable thousands of hours of entertainment to be made available.
My Prime will feature the very best of TV and movies made available through a Horizon set top boxes and Horizon Go which is accessible both in and out of home.
All services are available at no extra cost with My Prime exclusive to Horizon TV bundles.
Deals agreed with leading programming providers
Deals between UPC and Miramax, RTE, Element Pictures, Disney UK and Ireland and other leading providers mean even more content will be available on demand via the new service.
Working in a similar fashion to Netflix, but without the additional cost, My Prime will feature complete box sets, major blockbusters and the best that children’s TV has to offer.
Bill Blake, Head of Commercial and Products at UPC, said the firm wants to make “watching television even more enjoyable” for customers.
“The My Prime service is an exciting new development which will give customers the freedom and flexibility to access video content at any time and without limits,” he added.
Dave Fanning reviews
UPC has also commissioned Dave Fanning to create and host 13 On Demand review shows featuring interviews and special features as well as exclusive looks at some of the available content.
Lasting 20 minutes, the first show will be available on My Prime on 23 March and also on UPC channel 100, with a new show aired weekly thereafter.
The Dave Fanning Show will aim to offer genuine reviews without pushing specific content and is designed to act as an aid to anyone overwhelmed by the levels of content available on the service.
Flexibility and plenty of choice
My Prime is now up and running, meaning customers can enjoy popular box sets including Love/Hate, Revenge, Scandal, Cougar Town and Devious Maids.
The Boy in Striped Pyjamas and There Will Be Blood are just two of the many films that can be watched with some of the best box office hits from Miramax also available.
Other libraries will include The Guard and What Richard Did, along with children’s classics Bob the Builder, Sesame Street and Fireman Sam.
UPC will add more titles to My Prime every month with constant investment planned for the service.
Existing Horizon customers can upgrade to My Prime for fee and access this content through their On Demand service. Alternatively, they can keep their digital box and get the new service for just €5 extra per month.
