UPC surpasses 100,000 Horizon TV customers in the first 12 months since launch
Horizon TV now accounts for nearly one third of all UPC’s digital TV subscriptions
Today UPC announced that the company had surpassed the 100,000 customer mark for their new Horizon TV service.
There are 336,700 UPC digital TV customers in total, but significantly almost one third of these are now signed up to the Horizon TV service specifically.
UPC’s Horizon TV was launched in September 2013, and since then the company has seen a lot of demand for the superfast broadband and TV service.
The overall statistics surrounding UPC were encouraging for the provider. Total TV, broadband and phone subscriptions now stands at about 1,091,700 and year-on-year subscriptions grew by 70,100 according to the latest set of figures available.
Magnus Ternsjo, CEO of UPC Ireland, was particularly enthusiastic about what the Horizon TV milestone meant for the company.
“We’re clearly successfully providing value for money to our customers by creating digital innovations that leverage our network superiority. This allows us to provide greater entertainment and connectivity to our valued customers.
“UPC’s Horizon TV has completely transformed consumers’ TV experience, bringing them closer to the TV they love in new and better ways. We’re also continuously listening to our customers and on an ongoing basis respond with new features and enhancements to the UPC Horizon service.”
It is also worth noting that the new Horizon Go Apps and Online service allows customers to watch TV anywhere in their home across multiple devices.
UPC customers can enjoy their favourite TV shows across tablets, smartphones and laptops, and Horizon TV customers can also make use of personalised suggestions that the service makes for them.
UPC subscribers and social media followers were invited to celebrate the milestone by voting for their favourite TV moments of all time.
Del Boy’s infamous ‘falling through the bar’ sketch from a classic Only Fools and Horses episode beat off stiff competition to claim top spot.
Glorious Irish sporting triumphs could also be found in the top ten ranking, with Ireland v Romania at the 1990 World Cup (2nd), Katie Taylor’s stunning 2012 Olympic Gold (3rd) and the 2009 Irish team winning the Grand Slam in Cardiff (6th) making their presence felt.
