UPC upgrades superfast broadband network to four new towns

Ashbourne, Donabate, Lusk and Ratoath in south county Meath and north county Dublin access up to 240Mb broadband and Horizon TV services

UPC has upgraded its network to deliver enhanced fibre-powered digital TV and superfast broadband services to four new towns in Ireland.

Horizon TV services and up to 240Mb broadband will soon be available in Ashbourne, Donabate , Lusk and Ratoath in south county Meath and north county Dublin.

Homes and estates in these areas will be able to access the improved UPC services from set switchover days occurring weekly next month.

Donabate will be the first to switchover on May 06 before being followed by Ratoath on May 12, Ashbourne on May 19 and Lusk on May 26.

Bringing new products and services to market

Conor Harrison, Vice-President of Network Services of UPC Ireland, said the company was “delighted” to be offering one of Ireland’s fastest residential broadband services.

UPC was voted Best Broadband Provider for a second year running at the 2015 Switcher Broadband Awards in recognition of the service that is offered.

“As well as high speed broadband, we continue to bring new products to the market, creating exciting new services for our customers,” explained Harrison.

Access to a wide range of digital services

UPC customers in these areas will soon be able to enjoy UPC’s Connected Entertainment services, included Horizon TV, featuring MyPrime, and superfast broadband of up to 240Mb.

It will represent the fastest broadband package that is currently available in Ireland while Horizon TV includes over 100 digital channels with up to 23 in high definition.

Horizon TV services also allows customers to record four channels at the same time while watching a fifth as well as having the capability for multi-room viewing.

The service passed the 100,000 subscribers milestone in Q3 2014 while more than 350,000 customers were using superfast broadband services at the end of that quarter.

MyPrime is also available with UPC, offering an On Demand service featuring an extensive range of movies, children’s programmes and box sets.

The Horizon Go mobile phone app completes the service and enables customers to watch programmes on the move; both in and out of the home.
