Virgin Media Ireland have wasted no time in naming Pat Kiely as the new Managing Director of TV3, following the acquisition of the network in late 2015.

The appointment by the broadband and TV and phone provider remains subject to regulatory approval by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.

Tony Hanway, Chief Executive of Virgin Media Ireland, said he is delighted to make the appointment and added that Mr Kiely will also be a member of the Virgin Media Ireland board.

“Pat is a very experienced leader in television with a wealth of commercial experience,” he explained. “I am convinced that under Pat’s dynamic leadership TV3 is well positioned for continued growth and development.”

Looking to build on past TV3 successes

Mr Kiely has been involved in TV3 since it launched and he described it as “one of the biggest success stories in recent Irish media”.

He explained that TV3 is now entering into a “new era” with Virgin Media and added that he hopes to build on the successes already noted.

Virgin Media completed the deal for the acquisition of TV3 in December 2015 which could total up to €87 million.

Virgin Media enhances broadband offering

In the first week of January, the provider has also launched a new range of broadband bundles capable of delivering up to 360Mbps, Virgin Media’s fastest ever speeds.

Available via Virgin Media’s fibre network to nearly three-quarters of a million customers, those who opt for a 360Mb package can save €120 with broadband and phone or up to €200 with broadband, phone & TV.
