Last week, the energy price war heated up with Flogas announcing a 3% price cut.

This followed recent cuts from Bord Gåis Energy, Electric Ireland and SSE Airtricity and the launch of the cheapest discounted electricity and dual fuel unit rates on the market by Energia.

And now, Electric Ireland has made another move, increasing its cash back offer to €175 on certain plans. The cash will be applied to customers’ first or second bill, depending on when they sign up.

The offer applies to new customers signing up to the following plans, provided they agree to pay by Direct Debit, or sign up for both Direct Debit and Online Billing:

  • Standard Domestic Gas;
  • ValueSaver Electricity; and
  • ValueSaver Dual Fuel.

The cashback also applies to the Smarter Pay-As-You-Go Electricity tariff.

This cash could come in handy in the run-up to Christmas, so if you’re looking for a new deal, it’s worth checking these out.

However, if you want to make the biggest possible savings, you should carry out a full energy comparison to see what the best deal is for you.

At the moment, the average dual fuel customer can save up to €387 by switching from standard tariffs to the cheapest deals on the market.
