This afternoon, Flogas announced that, from 1 December, it will reduce its unit price by 3% for residential customers.

Energy price war

This is the latest move in what many are calling an energy price war.

In the last number of months we’ve also seen unit rate cuts from Bord Gåis Energy, Electric Ireland, PrePayPower and SSE Airtricity.

On top of this, last month Energia launched a host of new discounted deals, with a whopping 32% discount on its electricity-only plan. The discounts make Energia the cheapest supplier on the market for electricity and dual fuel, while Flogas remains the cheapest for gas.

Switch supplier and save

All of these rate cuts and new offers mean now is a better time than ever to make a switch.

At the moment, the average dual fuel customer can save €387 by switching from standard rates to the cheapest deals on the market.

The colder weather is creeping in

The clocks go back this weekend and there’s definitely been a change in weather over the last couple of weeks. We’ll all soon be using our heating much more often, as well as needing to turn on lights earlier in the evening. So switching supplier could help you to save money in what is an expensive time of year.

Commenting on today’s news, Eoin Clarke, Managing Director of Switcher.ie, said: “We’d encourage anyone who hasn’t made a switch in the last year to take advantage of the savings that can be made and do so now. They’ll really see the benefit when those winter bills start coming in.”
