ComReg report shows broadband prices in Ireland are higher than other European countries
On the other hand, mobile bills here are lower on average.
ComReg’s quarterly report for July-September 2016 compares prices in Ireland for fixed broadband, mobile broadband and phone bills against prices in other European countries.
Broadband prices in Ireland
The report shows that for fixed broadband with an advertised download speed of no more than 30Mbps, Ireland is the second-most expensive country out of the six countries included in the study, with an average price of €35.44.
The average price in Ireland is 9.9% more expensive than the average price for all of the countries included in the analysis, which included Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and the UK.
On the other hand, in terms of tariffs advertised for mobile broadband services Ireland ranks amongst the cheapest, with an average price of €14.37 for the product compared in the study.
The average price in Ireland is 29% cheaper than the average price for all of the countries included in the analysis.
Home phone prices in Ireland
The report also shows a comparison of prices advertised by home phone providers based on a basket of 60 calls (190 minutes).
The average price in Ireland for this was seen to be €32.47, which made Ireland the third-most expensive country out of the six countries that were compared.
The average price in Ireland is 10.1% more expensive than the average price for all of the countries included in the analysis.
