eir has today announced that it will be providing their mobile customers with free EU roaming, making it the first mobile provider in Ireland offering this service.

The campaign, called ‘Roam for Free’, will allow customers to use their call and text allowances from anywhere across the EU, and will also include an additional 1GB of EU roaming data each month, perfect for the regular jetsetter.

Maeve O’Malley, Director of Mobile with eir, expressed the company’s delight at being able to provide their customers with such a highly desired new feature:

“Our customers love value, have a big appetite for data and don’t want to worry about unplanned post-holiday phone bills. So ahead of the holiday season we wanted to give them something that would make their European trips even more enjoyable, irrespective of where they are or what they are doing.”

Up to 40,000 existing eir customers will also have this benefit added to their own bundle before the end of April 2016. New customers can now avail of free EU roaming with eir, with plans starting at €20 per month.
