Communities and towns all over Ireland are being encouraged to enter a competition to win an investment of €250,000 to connect to eircom’s 1Gbps fibre broadband network.

eircom is looking for the “next Belcarra” - a small community outside Castlebar where it recently deployed a high speed broadband network, which includes 150 homes, two National Schools and one local Mart.

The competition is open to all communities and towns who currently have no access to a high speed broadband network and are relying on the National Broadband Plan for connectivity.

To enter the competition, entrants need to tell eircom in their own words, song or video why their community should be the next fibre to the home trial.

Communities and towns interested in entering the competition can do so here.

The closing date for entries is Tuesday 15 September, 2015.
