by Eoin Clarke on 7th February, 2013 very much welcomes the introduction of Sky’s new DSL Broadband Services offering in collaboration with BT. Ireland now has another substantial player in the broadband market that can only be good for consumers as competition drives value.

Today’s launch has highlighted Sky’s commitment to bring real clarity and simplicity in the way that its broadband services are delivered to consumers.

For too long, Irish consumers have had limited choice when it comes to bundling broadband, home phone and digital television. Many consumers have been forced to take products from two or three different suppliers ultimately costing them more.

Our research shows that Irish households face a tough year – two thirds (68%) expect their income to drop in 2013 with as many eight in ten (82%) actively trying to reduce their household spending this year. Sky’s new entry-level triple play product costs €57 a month and should come as a welcome boost to households.

With hundreds of broadband, home phone and digital television packages to choose from and a wide range of broadband providers to decide between, the challenge for consumers is to find the best value and the right provider based upon how they wish to connect to the Internet, their usage demands, budget and where they live in Ireland.

Consumers should note that broadband speeds, reliability and prices change and improve frequently.
