UPC Business acquires Bitbuzz to increase WiFi footprint
Irish customers will benefit from improved WiFi coverage under the move
Leading integrated business communications provider UPC Business is expanding their services to improve WiFi coverage for customers by acquiring WiFi network operator Bitbuzz in a recent acquisition.
The deal will add extensive WiFi coverage to UPC Businesses’ list of services which already provide a range of integrated solutions to corporate customers.
This includes 100Gbps Metro Ethernet for the public sector and large companies as well as superfast broadband and telephony services for smaller businesses and home office set-ups.
Internet connectivity of up to 10Gbps is also provided by UPC Business who’s decision to expand their services to include a bumper WiFi selection is sure to help them achieve great successes.
Bitbuzz offers a choice of managed WiFi services to hotels, pubs, airports, cafes, bars and public locations through Ireland and the UK and this service will be extended to UPC Business’ customers under the recent deal. Speaking about the acquisition, UPC’s Business Services Vice President Gavan Smyth described the move as UPC’s “first step” in expanding their services within the business market.
He explained that they intend to offer value added services to their arsenal in order to complement their existing high speed broadband products.
“Bitbuzz is a successful and innovative Irish company specialising in WiFi communications”, he said. “This acquisition makes an excellent strategic combination and complements our extensive range of fibre powered broadband and communications services”.
Bitbuzzes Managing Director, Shane Deasy, also commented on the deal with plenty of positivity and explained how the move would benefit both companies as well as their respective customers.
“The combination of our two businesses will enable Bitbuzz customers to benefit from UPC’s expertise, services and global reach,” he explained. “By joining together, we will share our collective strengths and enhance our overall services for customers while retaining a strong identity.”
