UPC Ireland and Deezer unveil new partnership
Deal will see music app with 35 million tracks available exclusively with UPC Horizon TV
UPC Ireland and Deezer have announced a new partnership that will see the music app available in Ireland for the very first time via UPC’s Horizon TV service.
The music streaming service from Deezer features more than 35 million tracks and will allow UPC customers to access a wide range of music services.
On-demand music, editorial recommendations and personalised playlists will be just some of the services available for Horizon TV subscribers.
Users will also be able to access a number of artist-specific radio stations via their TVs, providing access to even more music content.
Clement Cezard, Deezer’s chief business development officer, said the firm was delighted to be partnering with UPC.
“We look forward to helping millions of music fans discover their next favourite track, right from the comfort of their sofa at home.”
Horizon TV gained its 100,000th customer in September, while the Horizon Gateway allows users to transform any TV into a Smart TV.
It provides access to 49 different applications, including YouTube and popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
“Horizon TV is growing in popularity and really elevates the way consumers watch television and enjoy multimedia content on multiple devices in the home,” explained Shane Loughrey-Grant, UPC’s content delivery manager.
“The addition of Deezer to our range of connected apps on the Horizon gateway will for the first time, enable Irish customers to select from a worldwide digital music streaming service through their TV.”
For customers wishing to access the full Deezer service, they will need to subscribe to Deezer and can avail of an initial promotional price of €4.99 per month.
Deezer is available in 182 countries across the world, with 16 million monthly active users and five million paid subscribers across the globe.
With more than 35 million songs and more than 30,000 radio channels, there is plenty of choice for its customers.
