Virgin Media announces sponsorship of comedy on RTÉ2

The company will also be sponsoring RTÉ 2fm’s Breakfast Republic show.

Earlier this week, Virgin Media announced it is to sponsor comedy on RTÉ2, as well as RTÉ 2fm’s Breakfast Republic show.

The sponsorship includes a six-month radio sponsorship of RTÉ 2fm’s Breakfast Republic along with a twelve-week long sponsorship of comedy on RTÉ2.

The deal with RTÉ2 will see Virgin Media pre-roll advertisements on all episodes of programmes including Republic of Telly, Big Bang Theory and The Rubberbandits. This will also include episodes and catch-ups broadcast on RTÉ Player.

The advertising creative will largely focus on Virgin Mobile. Back in July, Virgin Media launched handsets, superfast 4g, and flexible contracts.

“A perfect fit”

Paul Farrell, Vice President of Commercial at Virgin Media said that the fit with RTÉ2’s comedy shows and 2fm’s Breakfast Republic is ‘perfect’ for Virgin Media. He added: “Our Virgin Mobile offering is continuing to shake up the market with incredible flexibility when it comes to contracts, competitive plans and not to mention free 4G and high-speed Wi-Fi broadband service for all mobile customers. We are really excited to launch our first Virgin Media sponsorship on RTE.”

Meanwhile, Willie O’Reilly, Commercial Director at RTÉ said he was looking forward to a successful partnership with “one of Ireland leading mobile operators”.
