Vodafone has announced that 90% of Dubliners can now access 4G coverage, meaning customers can access super-fast speeds via mobile broadband dongles.

The roll-out of Vodafone’s 4G broadband network is part of a national programme which now covers more than 70% of the Irish population.

Super-fast 4G broadband represents the best speed available in Ireland, while Vodafone is on track with its efforts to provide mobile broadband coverage in both urban and rural areas.

Six cities and 267 towns across Ireland can already benefit from mobile broadband coverage under the roll-out programme.

Using 4G broadband can be up to ten times faster than standard 3G so users can benefit from better quality video streaming, near instant photo uploads and super-fast file downloading.

Vodafone customers can benefit from a range of dongles and portable WiFi hotspots that feature super-fast speeds – ideal for those looking to do leisure or business activities on the move.

Counties along the east of Ireland including Kildare, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Wicklow will be the next to benefit from the 4G roll-out.

Marcel de Groot, Consumer Director, Vodafone Ireland, said the roll-out of 4G would enable customers to take advantage of mobile broadband that is capable of providing both the best and most relevant content.

“The roll-out of Vodafone’s superfast 4G across Dublin, as well as the improvements to our existing 3G network, mean Vodafone customers can now do more of what they love with their phones at faster speeds and in more places,” he said.
