A Guide to Sky Go Extra
Sky Go Extra is a new version of Sky Go with, put simply, a little bit extra!
All that customers in Ireland require is a compatible laptop, mobile device or tablet and all that Sky Go Extra has to offer is at their fingertips.
It means the same services that were available with Sky Go are still available, including all the latest shows that Sky has to offer.
Customers can enjoy cutting edge drama, the finest movies and live sporting events, both at home and on the move.
How does Sky Go Extra differ from Sky Go?
You can register up to four devices with Sky Go Extra – two more than with the normal Sky Go package – meaning all of the family can enjoy their favourite shows across a whole host of platforms.
You can download different content on up to four devices while two can stream live programming at the same time.
All you need to download is a WiFi connection – either at home, in the office or in a public place – and you can download all the content you desire to watch when on the move.
This is the major advantage between Sky Go Extra and the regular package, as downloading offers access to programming in even the remotest of locations.
Channels in a regular sky package will be available but additional channels included in sports and movies packages will only be included if you have them as part of your subscription.
What makes the set up so beneficial is that once a programme is downloaded, there’s no need for an internet connection in order to watch it.
That means there isn’t a need for massive broadband usage bills, and you don’t have to worry about whether the WiFi signal you have is strong enough. It also means you won’t lose what you’re watching should you lose signal for an unexpected reason.
Sky Go Extra is available to customers in Ireland from €6.00 per month in addition to any Sky TV package. Customers subscribing to Sky Multiscreen can get Sky Go Extra for free at no extra cost.
What is needed to get Sky Go Extra up and running?
Sky Go Extra is essentially an enhanced version of Sky Go meaning the same fundamental aspects are required to access the service.
Users will need an existing Sky Original or Variety Bundle and that TV package determines what can be watched on Sky Go – additional movie and sports channels cost more.
A mobile device running the Android platform 2.2 or above should be compatible as are iPhone’s from the 3G model range and above.
Ipad’s and other tablets are supported while access can also be gained on a laptop PC or Mac as well as on the Xbox 360 although an Xbox Live Gold subscription is required.
A 3G, 4G or WiFi connection will be required to stream programmes, while downloads are best done via regular broadband connections to avoid any potential large bills.
Why Sky Go Extra? Explained in a nutshell
Popular downloads and movies are available to download to watch anytime, making it an ideal solution for long journeys and the daily commute.
By enabling four devices, customers can enjoy access to more services at once, and this is especially ideal for families.
Signal issues are suddenly a thing of the past as downloaded content can be watched uninterrupted while the dreaded buffering symbol will also not impede viewing.
Sky Go Extra provides extra flexibility and Sky Multiscreen customers can enjoy it without having to pay anything extra.
