Are you an existing eir customer? Here's what you need to know about upgrade deals.
If you already have eir broadband, it's hassle-free to add on TV.
Often, broadband customers feel that their providers reserve the best deals for new customers. But, while it’s true that the biggest discounts are generally offered on initial sign-up, some providers do still offer great upgrade packages and deals to their existing customers.
For example, if you’re an eir broadband customer, did you know that you can add on one of eir’s TV plans to your broadband plan?
eir Vision TV Essential for existing eir customers
eir’s basic TV package - eir Vision TV Essential - comes with over 50 channels, including all of the BBC, RTÉ, Channel 4, and Virgin Media channels.
With eir Vision TV, you can:
- Pause, rewind & record live TV
- Store up to 375 hours of recordings space.
- Watch two shows while recording another.
You can also watch all your favourite Irish and UK channels at home or on the move, too.
If you’re an existing eir broadband customer, you can add on this TV deal to your broadband package for a reduced price, so you’ll make decent savings.
eir Vision TV Experience for existing eir customers
If you’d like even more channels, the eir Vision TV Experience plan might work better for you, as there are over 80 channels to keep you entertained.
On top of the channels that come with the eir Vision TV plan, this package also has the likes National Geographic, History, E!, nickjr, Cartoon Network, At the Races, and Eurosport 1 & 2.
You’ll get all of the same functionality with this plan - like the ability to pause, rewind and record - and again you’ll also get a discount if you’re an existing eir customer.
If you’re an eir broadband customer, you’ll already have access to eir Sport via the eir Sport app.
However, if you do choose to add on an eir TV package, you’ll also be able to access all of the channels in the eir Sport pack through the eir Vision TV box, which can be really handy.
Don’t want to add on TV to your eir broadband plan?
If you’re not interested in adding on a traditional TV package to your eir broadband plan, there are still other ways to beef up your home entertainment.
All of these services offer a free trial - ranging from one week to one month - and you can cancel after this without any charge if they don’t suit you, so it’s well worth giving them a try. If you do go for monthly subscriptions, you’ll be paying anywhere from €2.99 per month for the first six months of Amazon Prime Video, to €13.99 per month for the Premium Netflix subscription.
Meanwhile, the NOW TV Sports Pass can cost up to €49 per month, but there are usually introductory offers available, and you won’t be locking into a long contract, so you can cancel at any stage.
Accessing free online players
If forking out for a monthly streaming subscription isn’t for you either, remember that the RTÉ Player and Virgin Media Player both have loads of content available for free, including shows like Dancing with the Stars and Red Rock.
This could be a good option, especially if there are specific shows on these channels that you’d like to catch up on.
eir SuperValu Real Rewards
If you’re an existing eir customer, remember that eir has a partnership with SuperValu Real Rewards. This means that - if you are an eir customer and a Real Rewards member - you can collect points every time you pay your eir broadband or home phone bill.
To do this, you simply need to link the two accounts by adding your Real Rewards card number to your my eir account. Once the accounts are linked, eir gives you two ways to get more from your Real Rewards points:
- You can collect Real Rewards points every time you pay your eir broadband or home phone bill - for every €2 you pay you will get 1 Real Rewards point.
- You can save by using your Real Rewards points to get money off your eir broadband or home phone bill - 250 points will get you €3 off or 500 points gets you €6 off, and you can save up to €60 every year.
