A guide to eir TV packages

With free eir Sport for all eir broadband customers, and a great selection of channels, eir could be a good option if you're looking for a new TV deal.

You’ll need to have eir broadband in order to avail of eir TV - here’s all the information you need on the various packages, deals and add-ons available.

eir TV packages and deals

eir has a number of broadband, TV and phone packages, all of which have great introductory offers and could save you hundreds of Euro.

With all of these plans, you’ll get broadband with speeds of up to 100Mbps (depending on where you live and your type of broadband connection), as well as a home phone plan and a TV package.

While the broadband you’ll get with all of these plans will be the same, you’ll need to decide on whether you’re happy with unlimited calls to Irish and UK landlines and mobiles, or you also want to be able to call international destinations.

There are also two different TV packages available, depending on how many channels you want, so you’ll need to pick between the eir Vision TV essential or the eir Vision TV experience packages.

What channels do you get with eir TV?

The channels you’ll get will depend on the bundle you sign up for.

eir Vision TV essential comes with 61 channels, including all of the BBC, RTÉ, Channel 4, and TV3 channels, as well as all of the channels in the eir Sport pack.

Meanwhile, the eir Vision TV experience package comes with 90 channels, including all of the channels in the eir Vision TV essential plan, plus National Geographic, History, E!, nickjr, Cartoon Network, At the Races, Eurosport 1 & 2 and more.

What features come with eir TV?

When you sign up to eir Vision, you’ll get the eir Vision+ box installed. This has been designed specifically with Irish customers in mind and gives you the ability to:

  • Pause, rewind & record live TV
  • Store up to 375 hours of recordings space.
  • Watch two shows while recording another.

And, with the eir Vision Go app, you can watch all your favourite Irish and UK channels at home or on the move, too.

Can I get sports with eir TV?

Yes. You must sign up to eir broadband to avail of eir TV, and the eir Sport pack comes FREE with all eir broadband plans. This pack comes with eir sport 1&2, Box Nation, BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, BT Sport 3 and BT Sport ESPN.

You could also choose to add on Sky Sports to your plan for an additional cost - at the moment it’s €20 per month for the first six months, and €40 thereafter.

If you want to get access to Virgin Media Sports, you’ll need to sign up directly with Virgin Media, and access the content via their app.

Can I add on movies to my eir TV?

Yes. eir already comes with Film 4 as standard, as well as access to all of the latest blockbusters via eir Movies. If you’re a real movie addict, you can also add on Sky Cinema for an additional monthly cost.

What other add-ons are there for eir TV?

eir TV already comes with loads of great features - like the eir Vision Go app, and the ability to pause, rewind and record live TV.

However, if that’s still not enough for you, you could consider adding on eir multiroom, which will allow you to watch all the channels you’ve subscribed to in up to 3 rooms at once. This costs an extra €5 per room per month.

How does eir TV compare to TV from Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone?

eir TV offers much of the same features and channels as Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone, however the Sky and Virgin Media TV boxes do allow you to record more shows at once, while still watching TV, which is worth bearing in mind.

Sky and Virgin Media also have standalone TV packages, which could be an advantage, if you’re not interested in bundling.

Are there any disadvantages to eir TV?

The only real disadvantage of eir TV is that you can’t sign up to it as a standalone deal, which means you have to opt for a broadband, TV and phone package. While this could work well - as you’ll only have to deal with one provider for billing and payments - it means that, if you want eir TV, you don’t have the freedom to go with a separate broadband plan from a different provider.
