About the Gas Point Reference Number (GPRN)

If you’ve been thinking of switching gas provider, you may have heard about the GPRN - we've got all the info you need on what it is and how to find it.

What is the GPRN?

Your GPRN is the Gas Point Reference Number, which is a unique identifying number for the gas meter at your property. It is seven digits long.

Where is the GPRN located? How do I find the GPRN?

Although the GPRN is the meter’s identifying number, it is not found on the meter itself. You can normally find it on your gas bill.

If you don’t have a previous bill:

  • ask the landlord or previous occupiers for the number; or
  • contact Gas Networks Ireland on 1850 200 694 to verify your GPRN.

Why do I need to know my GPRN?

You will need the GPRN in order to complete a gas switch.

It allows both your old and new supplier to identify the meter in your home and ensure the switch is completed correctly.
