The P40 is here!

Huawei has just unveiled the new P40 handset range with some big upgrades on the P30 - you can checkout what it’s got to offer on our P40 device page.

How good is the P30 Pro?

The P30 Pro is the top phone in the P30 range from Huawei and it comes packed with tech to rival the leading handsets in the market. Some of the key features include:

  • Leica Quad Camera system: with four different cameras in one handset! The system includes a 40MP rear camera, 20MP ultra wide camera, 8MP Telephoto camera and 32MP front facing selfie camera.
  • Octa-core processor: with the first 7mn mobile process chipset. This helps improve the performance of the P30 Pro without draining your battery.
  • Stunning 6.47 inch screen: with rounded corners and dewdrop display. The OLED screen has a wide colour gamut and can display a breathtaking 16.7 million colours.
  • Wireless Quick Charge: so you can charge your P30 Pro with compatible Qi-certified devices. You can also use the HUAWEI SuperCharge port if you need to recharge in a hurry to get back to 70% charge in 30 minutes.

You also get:

  • 4200mAh battery, with intelligent power saving tech
  • 128 GB of internal storage
  • 6 GB of RAM

How good is the Huawei P30 Pro camera?

The standout feature of the P30 Pro is its camera system, if you love taking pictures on your phone it could be a good choice.

While its not the first handset to feature four different cameras, its Quad Camera system is more than the iPhone 11 Pro and Samsung S10+.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • A SuperSensing sensor, which uses a RYB (red yellow blue) sensor array rather than RGB (red green blue) to improve picture quality.
  • A Wide 27mm equivalent lens, to allow you to take wide angle pictures
  • A SuperZoom lens, with a 10x hybrid zoom and up to 50x zoom overall.
  • Low light video recording, with the SuperSpectrum sensor.

What colours does the Huawei P30 Pro come in?

The P30 Pro comes in six different colours, but not all of them may be available in Ireland:

  • Misty Lavender
  • Mystic Blue
  • Amber Sunrise
  • Breathing Crystal
  • Aurora
  • Black

The P30 Pro versus P30 Pro New Edition

The P30 Pro New Edition was released in June 2020 and now features:

  • 256GB storage and 8GB RAM as standard
  • Android 10, EMUI 10.1
  • a new voice assistant ‘Celia’
  • a new colour, Silver Frost

Huawei P30 Pro FAQs

Does the Huawei P30 Pro have a dual sim?

Yes, the P30 Pro can take two nano-SIM cards.

You can also choose either slot as the primary or secondary SIM.

You can also choose to use the second SIM card slot for a memory card to increase your phone’s memory if you need to.

Does the Huawei P30 Pro have wireless charging?

Yes, the P30 Pro does support wireless charging using any Qi certified charger.

The standard P30 doesn’t have wireless charging.

Is the P30 Pro waterproof?

The P30 Pro is splash, water and dust resistant to IP68 levels.

This means the P30 Pro is water resistant at a depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes.

Should I get insurance for my new P30 Pro?

While it’s not compulsory, the P30 Pro is an expensive bit of kit, so you may want to protect it with mobile phone cover.

You can find out more about how mobile phone insurance works, and what type of cover you might need by reading our mobile phone insurance guide.

Where can I see the Huawei P30 Pro specifications?

You can find the full P30 Pro specifications on the Huawei website.

Looking for a cheaper alternative?

If the P30 Pro is outside your price range its sister phone the P30 is worth a look. It has smaller screen and a triple camera instead of the Leica Quad camera system, but many key features are the same.
