Electric Ireland announces price rise

Electric Ireland announced today that they will be increasing their domestic gas prices from October 1st

Eoin Clarke, Head of uSwitch.ie , “At present, the average Electric Ireland gas customer is paying €929* per year and with the increase this will rise to €945.

This is €108 more than the cheapest supplier on uSwitch.ie. We expected suppliers to increase their prices after the Bord Gáis Energy price increase approval but that another supplier has moved so quickly does not bode well for consumers.”

“We would urge consumers to make their money go further by taking steps to ensure that their homes are as energy efficient as possible and that they are paying the lowest prices for the energy they use. In this case households who only use Electric Ireland for their gas needs can also easily achieve a valuable saving just by moving to dual fuel, paying by direct debit and signing up to a more competitively priced deal.”

* Based on Standard Gas (Direct Debit) plan from Electric Ireland and national average consumption rate.
