Electric Ireland introduces new ‘Powering Rewards’ scheme
Leading energy supplier offers its first rewards initiative to over 1 million Irish customers
Electric Ireland has launched their first loyalty programme with over 1 million customers now able to avail of some enticing rewards - designed to thank a reward loyal gas and electricity customers.
The new Powering Rewards scheme will offer special rewards and treats to customers and covers three main elements:
- Powering Savings – customers earn points with SuperValu each time they pay their bills and can redeem these points to save €10 off their next electricity or gas bill.
- Powering Choice – customers can gain access to a range of offers and discounts from leading companies partnered with Electric Ireland.
- Powering Experiences – customers use Electric Ireland’s rewards scheme to gain access to competitions, with top quality prizes up for grabs.
Super value Speaking about the new rewards programme, Electric Ireland’s Commercial Manager, Ken McKervey explained that the scheme intends to bring a full range of benefits to customers throughout Ireland.
“Electric Ireland is delight to bring our Powering Rewards programme to all our residential electricity and gas customers. We know our customers expect value and this programme is designed to thank and reward customers for their continued support,” he explained.
Their Powering Savings reward with SuperValu will be available in their 223 stores throughout Ireland and could allow consumers to save a maximum of €120 a year if they redeem the full €10 saving each month.
Powering Choice rewards include discounts and offers from Top Flight Holidays, Lifestyle Sports and Irelandhotels.com while the first reward under Powering Experiences offers consumers the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to London for the Graham Norton Show.

Electric Ireland is not the only energy supplier in Ireland to use rewards based programmes to attract new and retain current gas and electricity customers.
Bord Gáis Energy has also sought to give their customers more for their money by partnering with Tesco to give customers Clubcard points every time they pay their electricity bill.
Similarly, SSE Airtricity has a retail partnership with Applegreen - allowing customers to collect Rewards points against their gas and electricity bills. Rewards based schemes are becoming more and more popular with energy suppliers, as a mechanism to provide value added services in addition to supplying traditional energy services.
