Virgin Mobile is launching the iPhone 8 on 22 September
The iPhone X will follow on 3 November.
Today, it was confirmed that the Apple iPhone 8 will be available from Virgin Mobile from 22 September.
iPhone 8 on Virgin Mobile
Virgin Mobile will have the iPhone 8 64GB available in gold or space grey.
If customers opt for Virgin Mobile’s unlimited contract, they’ll have to pay €229 upfront, and then a monthly charge of €45 for the first 6 months and €55 per month after that, on a 24-month contract.
Opting for a SIM-only deal
If you’d prefer not to be tied into a lengthy contract, you could buy the phone outright, and opt for a SIM-only plan.
The iPhone 8 is available from €829, so obviously this would mean splashing out on the full cost of the phone upfront, but - depending on the plan you go for - you could save money in the long-run.
If you bought the phone outright and went for the Unlimited Virgin Media SIM-only plan, you’d save €60 over the course of the year, compared to going for the plan with the phone included.
And the cheapest SIM-only deal on the market is currently €10 per month, so you could save even more by going for a more basic plan.
Virgin Mobile’s freestyle contracts
Virgin Mobile is one of the only mobile operators in the Irish market to operate ‘freestyle’ contracts, which allow you to:
- Choose the plan, phone and contract length that best suits your needs;
- Change your plan up or down any month; and
- Upgrade your phone whenever you want, without penalty, once the balance of your current phone is paid off.
Speaking about these contracts, David Duffy, Devices Manager of Virgin Mobile said they “give people better value, more flexibility and greater control over the way they pay for their mobile plan”.
What about the iPhone X on Virgin Mobile?
Virgin Mobile has said that it will launch the Apple iPhone X on the 3rd of November, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
