Customers with 4G-supported versions of the iPhone can now access 4G broadband via eircom’s 4G network.

It means eircom are the only Irish operator offering 4G services on the iphone 5 via its Meteor and eMobile brands, as well as on the iPhone 5S and 5C.

The newer versions of the iPhone will access the Meteor and eMobile 4G networks where there is coverage across the country.

eircom’s 4G network will cover a number of key urban areas including Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.

Niall Dorrian, Director of Mobile at eircom Group, said the latest deal comes at the perfect time for customers and is set to offer a number of additional benefits.

“We are delighted to offer 4G to even more customers and the addition of the iPhone to our Meteor and eMobile 4G range is a huge boost to our consumers and business customers, who can avail of these top of the range phones just in time for Christmas,” he said.

“We are also very pleased to say that we are currently the only Irish operator supporting 4G on the iPhone 5 – which is a big advantage for our customers given that most people are iPhone 5 users.”

According to eircom, customers will be able to avail of 4G on eMobile and Meteor in more places than any other network in Ireland.

The services will allow for quick access and streaming of On Demand TV content, as well as improving the capabilities of video and audio streaming.
