About Flogas

Flogas is a gas and electricity supplier, which entered the domestic Irish gas market in 2007. The company now supplies gas to almost 40,000 homes in Ireland and recently entered the electricity market.

In March 1995 the Flogas company became a wholly owned subsidiary of DCC plc., which is a leading supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas & Natural Gas in both Ireland and Britain.

Flogas price changes

Flogas’s most recent price change announced a 10% decrease to their residential natural gas prices from 1 Nov 2020, which will reduce the average standard gas bill by €78 per annum.

In June 2018, Flogas announced that it was to increase its gas unit rates by 12.8% from 1 August, adding €92.56 onto the average annual gas bill.

Prior to this, on 1 November 2017, Flogas announced it was implementing a 3.3% price increase for domestic gas customers from 1 December 2017. This equates to approximately a €20 increase per year for an average customer. However, it increased the discount on its cheapest plan, to keep the year one cost the same.

In the previous two years, Flogas made two cuts to its gas prices - a 3% cut on 1 April 2015 and a 2.5% cut on 1 February 2016.

Flogas also has the cheapest gas, electricity and dual fuel deals on the market at the moment.

Flogas fuel mix

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) requires that energy suppliers disclose the sources they use to generate their energy each year. If suppliers choose not to make a declaration, they are allocated the residual fuel mix, which is the fuel mix left over from the All Island fuel mix after individual supplier’s fuel mixes have been calculated. For 2019, Flogas was allocated the residual fuel mix.
