What about the Apple iPhone 8 Plus?

The iPhone 8 Plus offers several upgrades on the standard iPhone 8, including:

  • A larger display: the iPhone 8 Plus has a larger 5.5 inch retina HD display. It also has a better pixel resolution at 1920x1080 at 401 ppi, compared to 1334x750 at 326 ppi for the standard iPhone 8.
  • A better camera: with a dual 12MP wide and telephoto camera, compared to the single 12MP wide camera on the iPhone 8. You can also use Portrait mode featuring Portrait lighting with the iPhone 8 Plus.
  • Better video recording: with 2x optical zoom and up to 6x digital zoom.
  • Better battery life: with audio playback up to 60 hours vs 40 hours for the standard iPhone 8.

Unfortunately the iPhone 8 Plus is no longer available with bill pay plans in Ireland, although you can still buy a SIM free handset from some suppliers.

No, you will either need to use Bluetooth headphones or the lightning port adaptor.

Does the iPhone 8 have wireless charging?

Yes, you can charge your iPhone 8 using any Qi wireless compatible charger.

However, you don’t get a wireless chargers are sold separately and not included with your iPhone 8.

How do you restart the iPhone 8?

To restart the iPhone 8:

  • Press & release the volume up button
  • Press & release the volume down button
  • Press & hold down the side button
  • Release the button when the Apple logo appears on your screen

Is the iPhone 8 waterproof?

It’s not fully waterproof but it is water resistant.

Apple claim that the iPhone 8 can be submerged to a depth of up to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes.

The water resistance rating is IP67, which is the same as the iPhone 7 and iPhone XR.

When was the iPhone 8 released?

The iPhone 8 was announced on 12th September, 2017 alongside the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone XR.
