Use the Virgin Media TV Anywhere app? It now has voice commands...
This will make it even easier to search for your favourite content.
On Wednesday, Virgin Media announced that it has introduced voice commands for users of its TV Anywhere app.

The app has loads of great features - for example, it allows you to:
- watch live TV, including RTÉ1 & 2, TV3, and the BBC and ITV channels;
- browse and view On-Demand box sets, movies and children’s content; and
- set recordings on your Horizon box when you’re out and about.
How do the voice commands work?
It all seems very straightforward. Basically, you just need to click the microphone icon located in the app and speak into your smartphone microphone.
In order to search, you just need to say ‘find’, followed by a TV show, movie title, or genre.
And you can also instantly stream your favourite TV channels by saying ‘play’ followed by one of the available channels, such as TV3, RTÉ or Be3.
Speaking about the voice commands, Paul Gilsenan, Virgin Media Product Manager, said Virgin Media is making it even easier for customers to access all their favourite content.
He added: “This improved search function means customers can simply tap on the microphone icon and speak into their phone and search for content by show, genre, or movie title – as well being able to search for all their favourite TV shows and documentaries”.
How do I get the Virgin Media TV Anywhere app?
The app is available to all Virgin Media customers who have a TV package and either an Android or iOS device, so once you’re a Virgin Media TV customer, you just need to head to the App Store or Play Store and download it.
If you already have the app, it will need to be updated in order to get access to the voice commands. How this works will depend on your settings - if you have auto update switched on, the changes will happen automatically, but if you normally do app updates manually, you’ll need to do so for this change, too.
