UPC’s Horizon Go takes TV out of the home
Mobile TV App is Ireland’s first TV on the go service with full access to Irish TV channels
UPC has launched Horizon Go, a new mobile TV app that will allow UPC Horizon TV customers to watch live TV anywhere they choose.
Horizon Go is Ireland’s first mobile TV app to feature Irish broadcasters such as RTE One, RTE Two, TV3 and 3e. UPC Horizon TV customers can enjoy 73 channels on regular TV and the mobile service will include 48 of these to watch through 3G or 4G connections or via public Wi-Fi broadband networks.
The number of channels is expected to increase further in the future, benefitting UPC Digital+ customers and those with Horizon TV packages.
Horizon Go means customers will have access to all of their favourite shows as On Demand content and catch-up TV services will also be included.
“Horizon Go is a great new service for our customers who want live content anytime and anywhere,” explained Bill Blake, UPC Ireland’s head of commercial and products. “UPC is providing the best connected entertainment to its customers no matter where they are.”
Horizon Go will include a number of channels that can be viewed via a mobile device which has the app installed on it.
News and sports channels including RTE News Now, Eurosport, Eurosport 2 and Extreme Sports as well as entertainment channels TLC, Lifetime, Comedy Central and FOX can all be viewed via the app.
Children’s TV channels RTEJr, Nickelodeon and Nick Toons are also available, as are education channels Discovery, Investigation Discovery and History.
Further documentary channels including National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD can also be viewed with Horizon Go while popular music channels such as VH1, MTV, MTV Music and MTV Dance will also be available so that UPC Horizon TV customers can enjoy hit music on their phones. To use Horizon Go, customers must register for a MyUPC account via the upc.ie website.
The service can then be used anywhere there is a Wi-Fi broadband or 3G or 4G connection.
