A guide to Virgin Media TV packages
Virgin Media has some great TV deals - whether you want a standalone TV plan, or you’d prefer a package with broadband and phone included too.
We’ve got all the information you need on the various packages, deals and add-ons available.
Virgin Media TV packages and deals
There’s even a TV package with a 30-day contract - the Freedom TV plan - which will work for you if you’re on a short-term lease or don’t want to be tied down for long.
If you opt to package your TV plan with broadband and/or phone, you’ll need to have a think about what broadband speed you want - Virgin Media has unlimited broadband plans with speeds of up to 240Mbps or 360Mbps.
You’ll also need to consider whether you’re happy with unlimited calls to Irish landlines and mobiles, or you also want unlimited minutes to certain international destinations.
What channels do you get with Virgin Media?
As mentioned above, the channels you get will depend on the bundle you sign up for.
The Virgin Mix TV plan comes with 66 channels (including 20 in HD). All of the BBC, RTÉ Channel 4, and the Virgin Media channels are included in this bundle, as well as Sky 1 & 2 and Sky Living.

It has all of the top entertainment channels - with over 30 available in HD - including the channels you get with Virgin Mix TV, as well as Lifetime, MGM, Eurosport 1&2, and Universal, to name just a couple.
All Virgin Media TV plans also come with Virgin Media Sport included absolutely free.

What are the other add-ons for Virgin Media TV?
Virgin TV comes with lots of great features as standard - including access to Virgin Movies and Box Sets, and the ability to record four shows at once, while watching a fifth. You’ll also have access to content and the ability to set recordings on the move with the Virgin TV Anywhere app.
If you’d also like to access Virgin Media TV in a second room in your house, you can opt to get an extra Digital+ box in another room for just €11 a month, with a €20 once-off activation fee.
How does Virgin Media TV compare to eir tv, Sky TV and Vodafone TV?
Virgin Media TV offers much of the same features and channels as eir, Sky and Vodafone, however the Virgin Media TV box allows you to record more shows at once - while still watching TV - than the eir and Vodafone boxes, which is worth bearing in mind.
Virgin Media also offers standalone TV packages, which could be an advantage if you’re not interested in bundling. However, if you ARE interested in a bundle, Virgin Media has some of the fastest broadband speeds out there!
You can also access Netflix directly through the Virgin TV box, which is really handy if you’re a fan of the streaming service.
What about Virgin Media broadband and phone deals?
Not convinced you need TV? Many of us are actually now opting for standalone broadband deals, or broadband and phone plans, and then subscribing to a streaming service for content. If this sounds like you, luckily Virgin Media does offer broadband and phone deals that could work for you.
