This week, Sky has made a couple of announcements about new additions to its Sky Go app and Sky TV services.

Sky Go

For those of you that don’t know, Sky Go is Sky’s mobile TV service. It allows Sky customers to watch TV on the move at no extra cost. From today, the big six Irish TV channels - RTÉ One, RTÉ2, RTÉ Jr, TV3, 3e and UTV Ireland - will be available through Sky Go. The app already has over 65 channels, including Sky Atlantic, MTV, Sky Sports News and Discovery.

The addition of the Irish channels will come as great news for any Sky customers who are fans of home-grown programming, like Fair City or Red Rock, as they’ll now be able to watch these channels on the move. Sky has pointed out that these, along with soaps like Coronation Street, Champions League football and news&current affairs programmes are amongst Ireland’s most watched-programmes.

Already in Ireland, there has been over 500,000 downloads of the Sky Go app. If you’re a Sky customer and you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can do so for free via the Google Play or Apple stores. Might make that commute a bit more interesting!

All Sky HD customers in Ireland can now access TG4 HD. This means content like the TG4 Ladies Gaelic Football Championships, the channel’s acclaimed documentaries, a variety of kids shows and Nuacht TG4 will all be available to Sky HD customers in HD quality.

The addition of TG4 HD brings the total number of HD channels available via Sky to 76, which is the widest range of HD channels in Ireland.

Moving to Sky TV

If you are considering moving to Sky, now could be a good time - they currently have an offer of a free LG TV for new TV customers signing up online.
