January blues? A new broadband deal could save you hundreds
There are sales from eir, Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone at the moment.
Loads of us are coming into the New Year with Christmas debt hanging over us, and swearing that this time next year we won’t be in the same position again.
Well, if you want make an easy step towards this New Year’s resolution, switching to a new broadband deal could be a good idea. Major providers - like eir, Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone - have sales on at the moment, and you could save over €500 if you sign up to certain plans online.
Broadband-only plans from €25 per month
If you spend most of your time watching content on the likes of Netflix, NOW TV and Amazon Prime, and you rarely watch traditional TV channels, then a broadband-only plan could work for you.
Vodafone’s sale sees its Simply Broadband plan - with speeds up to 100Mbps - reduced from €45 to €25 per month for the first six months, saving you €120.
Other standalone broadband plans with similar speeds include:
- Pure Telecom’s Purely Broadband, which is €44 per month; and
- Digiweb’s Fibre Broadband Home at €42.95 per month, plus a €50 installation fee.
Broadband, TV and phone packages
Meanwhile, if you need broadband, TV and phone, you will normally save by getting all three from the same provider. eir’s Vision TV Essential & Broadband + eir Sport plan is a good option - you’ll get 55 TV channels, unlimited broadband with speeds up to 100Mbps and unlimited anytime calls to Irish and UK landlines and mobiles. Anyone signing up to an eir broadband plan will also get the eir Sport pack absolutely FREE.
This plan is currently reduced from €91 to €50 per month for the first 12 months, on an 18-month contract - a saving of €492. And, if you sign up online, you’ll save an additional €5 per month for the first six months, bringing your total savings to €522.
If you’re looking for even faster broadband, you could consider Virgin Media’s 240Mb Virgin Mix TV and Anytime Mobile plan, which is now reduced from €89 to €59 per month for the first 12 months, on a 12-month contract - a saving of €360.
Alternatively, if you can’t live without Sky Atlantic or the other exclusive Sky channels, the Sky Original TV Bundle + Sky Fibre Unlimited & Talk Freetime could be an option for you.
This plan is also reduced at the moment, down from €84.50 per month to €64.50 per month for the first 12 months, saving you €240.
Broadband and TV or Broadband and Phone plans
If you don’t need TV but you do want a home phone, or you’re happy to forego the phone but really need a traditional TV package, there are loads of broadband and phone and broadband and TV packages to choose from - and plenty of these have January reductions, too.
