Sky Multiroom customers will be able to access mobile and downloadable content wherever they are from July this year.

Subscribers to Sky Multiroom in Ireland will be able to use the Sky Go Extra Service for free, which allows you to download movies and TV shows onto various devices.

This new offer starts in July for those already using Sky Multiroom, which allows users to watch different channels in different rooms under one Sky subscription.

Non Sky Multiroom subscribers can avail of Sky Go Extra for an additional €6 per month, while the service will be free for households that are Multiroom enabled.

The key advantages of Sky Go Extra

Sky Go Extra is an additional service from Sky, the digital TV, broadband and home phone provider, which allows customers to watch offline content. Essentially it’s an upgraded version of Sky Go, the popular app which lets users stream movies and TV shows from their current Sky subscription onto various devices.

With Sky Go Extra users can watch their TV content on their smartphones, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices, including Macs, for offline viewing. This is an excellent initiative for busy families and households, who are likely to already get great use out of the functionality which the Sky Multiroom service provides.

This introduces a notably modern service to many Sky customers in Ireland, with Sky Go Extra allowing for users to view TV content on mobile devices without the need for an internet connection.

This is done by downloading the content in advance, prior to watching it offline at a later stage. Whether on a train, car, flight or anywhere else, the service allows users to view the content that Sky regularly offers them away from the home.

Sky Ireland recently released figures which highlighted the popularity of the original Sky Go app, with almost 400,000 downloads in Ireland to date.

This new offer from Sky should see a surge in Sky Go Extra app downloads from users in Ireland - with free access to Sky Go Extra now available to Sky Multiroom subscribers.

Brand new app is on its way

A new app is also set to be launched later this summer. The app features a new look for phones and tablets for better navigation and easy access to favourite shows and content. The app is also being updated for Xbox.

Sky users will be able to use the new app in order to access up to 39 channels on mobile devices. 14 of these channels were added within the last 12 months, including popular channels such as Disney, More4, SyFy and Universal.

Sky Go Extra users will also be able to register a total of 4 internet-connected devices. This option gives families even more options over where and when they watch and enjoy their Sky content.
