UPC Ireland strikes partnership with Currys PC World
Retail partnership between UPC and Currys PC World sees opening of Horizon customer experience centre
UPC Ireland has reached an agreement with Currys PC World that will see them showcase their Horizon TV service in Cork.
The Currys PC World store at Mahon Point represents another in-store destination for consumers to see the latest offerings in action.
Horizon aims to bring TV to life and features a number of services from one small box including an ability to watch television, surf the internet and make calls to family and friends.
Many of the latest services include super-fast broadband via UPC’s fibre power network, which serves 64,000 homes across Cork, as well as a multitude of businesses.
The fibre-optic broadband, digital TV and home phone provider will also give local businesses and retailers in the region of the store access to its 150Mb fibre power broadband connection.
UPC Ireland is reportedly the leading digital investor in Cork and is investing €500 million nationally to improve the country’s infrastructure.
The Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork, councilor Lorraine Kingston said the latest move would help to drive business growth in the city.
“Multimedia technology developments are very welcome in Cork where it is important for the city and region to be enabled with the most advanced communications systems, technologies and services available,” she said. “I congratulate UPC for enabling these new digital TV services in Cork.”
New CEO of UPC Ireland, Magnus Ternsjö, said: “With expert staff, our in-store partnership with Currys PC World brings the amazing world of UPC home entertainment directly to the public.
“People looking for an extraordinary new digital TV experience, as well as current UPC customers, can see at firsthand how incredibly fast our broadband service actually is.
“They can compare it with their current provider and also explore the fantastic features that Horizon TV offers.”
He added that UPC are very keen to enhance the customer experience across Cork and that the latest move into partnership with Currys PC World is an example of the company actively looking to expand its services.
